High School Games of the Week

Posted by Jacob Plunkett on 9/14/17 12:04 PM

This week, the NFHS Network will produce more games than any week so far this year. With HUNDREDS of matchups, it's obviously difficult to narrow them down to only a few, select games.

We've done our best, though, and present to you another edition of our TOP FIVE Games of the Week!

If you think we got it wrong, feel free to comment with your Game of the Week opinions - we're always up for a friendly debate:

1. Rancho Cucamonga (CA) vs. Bishop Amat (CA)

Bishop Amat can't feel good about their 0-3 start, but at least they can take solace in having played one of the toughest schedules in the country. After an opening week defeat at the hands of #1 ranked Mater Dei, they traveled to Illinois to take on the #7 team in the state, then played another road game at another national top 50 program, JSerra. Things don't get any easier this week, as they play host to the #15 team in California, undefeated Rancho Cucamonga.

Players to watch...

Rancho Cucamonga:

Dylan Beridon / Class of 2018 / Uncommitted - #6 rated Strong-Side DE in California

Sean Dollars / Class of 2019 / Uncommitted - #1 rated All-Purpose RB in the COUNTRY (#86 player overall)

Jeremiah Criddell / Class of 2019 / Uncommitted - #13 rated CB in the COUNTRY (#165 player overall)

Bishop Amat:

Aaron Maldonado / Class of 2018 / UCLA Commit - #4 DT in California

A big time matchup in Colorado will see two Top 10 teams square off, as #3 Eaglecrest travels to #7 Grandview. Last year's contest between these two was a thrilling 36-29 win by Eaglecrest, so the Wolves will be looking for a little revenge when they welcome the Raptors to town.

Players to watch...

Barrett Miller / Class of 2019 / Uncommitted - #1 rated OT in Colorado

Gunner Gentry / Class of 2018 / Wyoming Commit - #1 rated WR in Colorado

Jordan Knapke / Class of 2018 / Uncommitted - #5 rated S in Colorado

John Curtis Christian is one of the most decorated high school football programs in the country. They have 26 state championships and 12 undefeated seasons since 1975. They come in ranked #2 in the state of Louisiana and #65 nationally. Parkview Baptist (currently ranked #31 in Louisiana) will attempt to give Curtis something extremely rare for them: a losing streak (they lost last week at the #4 team in the country, Grayson (GA)).

Players to watch...

John Curtis Christian:

Glenn Beal / Class of 2018 / Uncommitted - #1 rated TE in Louisiana

Marquese Albert / Class of 2018 / Uncommitted - #9 rated RB in Louisiana

Union's going to have their work cut out for them as they face the #2 team in the state, Eastside Catholic. When asked about his thoughts on this week's game, Union Head Coach Rory Rosenbach said, “To steal a quote from my colleague: We are playing the greatest collection of stars ever assembled in King County, and we are simply thankful for the opportunity to compete on the same field with them."
