Florida Games of the Week - Week Two

Posted by Jacob Plunkett on 9/1/16 11:02 AM

Last week was just a taste.

Maybe the team looked a little sloppy. Too many penalties. Too many missed tackles.

No worries - the season is still in its infancy. 1-0 doesn't guarantee a playoff spot, and 0-1 doesn't mean the sky is falling.

Heck, some teams haven't even played their first game yet.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy this preview on some of the top Week 2 games on the NFHS Network.

Columbus vs. Northwestern

Thursday, September 1st - 7:00pm ET

Two of the top teams in the state meet for a Thursday night showdown! Columbus has an extremely talented secondary, but there are a few questions on the offensive side of the ball. Northwestern's early schedule is brutal, and starting 2-0 would be huge.

American Heritage (Plantation) vs. Don Bosco Preparatory (NJ)

Friday, September 2nd - 7:00pm ET

Apologies to those of you who are tired of seeing American Heritage on this list, but they keep scheduling games against really good out of state teams! This week they play the #2 team in the state of New Jersey. Should be another good one.

Leon vs. Rickards

Friday, September 2nd - 6:50pm ET

Leon is coming off of its 600th win in program history to start the season. Rickards fell to Madison Co. last week. None of that matters when these two Tallahassee rivals.

BONUS: Florida Schools Playing Games in Ireland

Friday, September 2nd - 6:00am ET & Noon ET

The Community School of Naples and Belen Jesuit will both be playing games in Dublin, Ireland Friday morning as part of the Aer Lingus American Football Showcase. Tune in EARLY to watch this special broadcast and support Florida high school football!
