Alabama Games of the Week - Week Two

Posted by Jacob Plunkett on 8/24/16 6:30 PM

Last week was just a taste.

Maybe the team looked a little sloppy. Too many penalties. Too many missed tackles.

No worries - the season is still in its infancy. 1-0 doesn't guarantee a playoff spot, and 0-1 doesn't mean the sky is falling.

Heck, some teams haven't even played their first game yet.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy this preview on some of the top Week 2 games on the NFHS Network.

Opelika vs. Auburn

Friday, August 26th - 6:45pm CT

Coming off a nail-biting 31-30 win by Opelika last year, the 91st installment of this rivalry game should be as intense as they come. Over the past 13 meetings, Auburn has won 7 and Opelika has won 6. Both teams are ranked among the best in the state of Alabama. What more could you want?

Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa vs. Oak Mountain

Friday, August 26th - 6:30pm CT

Coming off a 42-7 blowout of Demopolis, Hillcrest and future Crimson Tide running back Brian Robinson look to keep things rolling against Oak Mountain.

Muscle Shoals vs. Spain Park

Friday, August 26th - 7:00pm CT

Muscle Shoals looks to bounce back from a season-opening loss as they travel to Jaguar Stadium to face Spain Park. The Jags went 9-0 at home in 2015 and limited opponents to an average of 4 points per game.

Park Crossing vs. Robert E. Lee

Friday, August 26th - 7:00pm CT

It's the first ever meeting between these two, and also the first time Marcus Jenkins, the Thunderbirds star tackle and one of the top players in the state, will return to Robert E. Lee (the school he transferred from after his freshman season). Should be fun!
