We had to wait an extra week for Alabama High School Football to start this year, but the wait may have been worth it. The NFHS Network will be bringing you live coverage of the top action in the state, all season long.
To get you prepped for Friday nights, we've prepared a list of some of the top players to keep your eye on. These guys will soon be suiting up on Saturdays - perhaps for the Crimson Tide or Tigers - so do yourself a favor and familiarize yourself with them by watching them on the NFHS Network.
Jack West / Quarterback / Saraland High School / Class of 2018

Jack West had an offer from Alabama before he even made his first high school start. The 6'4" Senior has prototypical size and is just as successful in the classroom as he is on the field. He ranks as the #1 QB in the state of Alabama, and the #6 player overall. West committed to Stanford over a year ago, and says he has political aspirations after his football career is over. Watch his Saraland Spartans RIGHT HERE!
Shedrick Jackson / Wide Receiver / Hoover High School / Class of 2018

Next up, we've got an electrifying receiver out of Hoover High School. His wide receivers coach called him, "probably the fastest kid on our football team and the strongest kid pound for pound." That's not hard to imagine, considering he's the nephew of former Auburn Heisman-winner, Bo Jackson. Just like Uncle Bo, Shedrick has committed to the Tigers. Watch him help #1 Hoover try and defend their Class 7A state title this season on the NFHS Network.
George Pickens / Wide Receiver / Hoover High School / Class of 2019

A stud wide receiver from Hoover High School who's committed to Auburn? I think I'm having déjà vu... Just like teammate Shedrick Jackson, Junior 4-star George Pickens will spend this upcoming season trying to lead his Hoover Bucs back to the state title game. They're absolutely loaded at wideout, so this should be a fun offense to watch. Pickens has exceptional size, standing at 6'5" with plenty of room to fill out his frame. Watch him this season on the NFHS Network.
Kevontae' Ruggs / Outside Linebacker / Lee High School / Class of 2018
This versatile OLB has big upside. At 6'4" 195 lbs, Ruggs still has room to put on muscle. Alabama has offered, and appears to be the favorite at this point (his older brother is a freshman wide receiver at Bama), although he has said his mind isn't made up yet. Even though he plays OLB at 18th-ranked Lee-Montgomery, the Crimson Tide reportedly like him as a strong safety or an extra DB in passing downs. He certainly has the athleticism to make the switch, if need be. Watch Kevontae' fly around the field all season long on the NFHS Network!
Cam Taylor / Athlete / Park Crossing / Class of 2018

In his first season with Park Crossing (transferred from Prattville), Cam Taylor will be looking to bounce back from a couple of serious knee injuries. When healthy, he's as electric as any player in the state. He'll line up as the starting quarterback this season, but his college future could lie at safety. He's committed to Missouri, and he says his plan this season is to build up a big enough lead on offense so that he can, "go in on the defensive side and get picks." Watch him attempt to do just that as he leads #25 ranked Park Crossing this season on the NFHS Network!
